Gyroscopes
- next to the captain of a fighter, commercial jet, or aircraft
carrier, they're the most important cargo on board. The military
maintains them as depots for replacement. Commercial airlines routinely
send them coast-to-coast. Sensitive to a fraction of a G, they're
often shipped by common carrier, hoisted and jostled by personnel
who don't know what they're transporting, and dont realize
that a nudge or bump could throw $100,000 worth of sophisticated
avionics guidance equipment out of calibration. Good thing they're
safely protected inside API's standard deck cases.
Inside the containers, the gyroscopes are indexed with foam, and
secured with a nylon strapping system to a rugged aluminum deck
that¹s suspended on elastomeric shock mounts to absorb destructive
shock and vibration. Our containers also have gasketed parting lines
to keep dirt and contaminants out. Pressure relief valve and humidity
indicators ensure its moisture proof and airtight.
We also know that baking in the sun on a flatbed trailer,
or weathering a downpour and gusting winds, are likely environmental
complications that may occur. To ensure maximum safety, our cases
are tested to protect their delicate contents from specified drops
in temperatures from 20 degrees F below zero to 120 degrees F above.
Engineered to endure, these cases perform trip after trip so the
gyroscopes will too.
Our Standard Deck Cases Include:
- A shell that is rotationally molded, semi-rigid, rugged
and recyclable
- Corners that are 15%-20% thicker to absorb shocks better
- Molded-in color that can't wear off, no matter how hard
the case used
- Patented stainless steel inserts molded-in to ensure hardware
connections are strong and easily replaced.
- Fully recessed hardware if necessary
- Patented anti-shear interlocks protect closure hardware
from damaging shear forces during drops
