Do You Need a Load Spreader for Your Custom Aluminum Case?

While a custom aluminum case is already durable, depending on how heavy your cargo is, a load spreader can decrease the chances of your custom case becoming damaged or completely broken in transit.

Do you have a lot of heavy cargo that needs to be transported safely? Transporting valuable cargo can be a risky and unpredictable business. During transit, the probability of a high-density load suffering damage is just as high as lighter, more fragile cargo. Thus, larger cargo needs the same level of protection. While a custom aluminum case is already durable, depending on how heavy your cargo is, a load spreader can decrease the chances of your custom case becoming damaged or completely broken in transit. Heavy cargo will test the strength of materials in your custom aluminum case, just like a bodybuilder lifts heavy weights in the gym to test the strength of their muscles.

How Do They Work?

Load spreaders use a long bar or bars, and a sling to transfer the weight of the load from one point to two or more points, therefore making the cargo much more comfortable to move. Not only does a spreader make the load safer to carry, it will also speed up the process. Essentially, it will take less time to move your cargo. With custom aluminum cases, a load spreader achieves the same goal of dispersing the weight in a different way. Typically, a flat plate and stiff ribs inside of your custom case will protect your cargo from bending, while the load spreader is securely attached to the floor and walls of your custom case.

Why Do They Work?

Load spreaders work by decreasing the pressure of a heavy weight on or in a custom case by increasing the surface area and therefore diffusing the pressure.  The principle is the same when thinking about shoes, like the difference between women in heels and men in work boots. Heels have less surface area in contact than the boots. But because the heels don’t make as much contact with the ground, there is more pressure exerted on the woman’s feet. The boots, on the other hand, are closer to the ground, so the pressure is spread out on the man’s feet.
